BALTIMORE, Md. – Friday the Towson University tennis team opened play at the Greyhound Women's Tennis Classic hosted by Loyola.
 
How it Happened

• In the first round Jessica Assenmacher and Elessa Jacobs took a 6-1 win in doubles. Assenmacher defeated her Greyhound opponent 6-4, 6-4 in singles while Jacobs also defeated a Loyola player in singles 6-4, 6-1 as Towson got victories early.
• The pair advanced to the quarterfinals, falling to a duo from Army.
• Lauryn Jacobs and Schuyler Tose played in doubles and singles in the No. 1 slot in the first round. The pair fell in doubles 6-1 and fell in two games apiece in singles, both to Loyola opponents.
• Amelia Lawson and Sarah Pospischill saw action in the first round, falling in doubles to a Loyola pair 6-4.
• In singles, Pospischill defeated her Greyhound opponent 6-4, 6-3 but Lawson fell.
• From a first-round bye, Alexa Martinez and Themis Haliou started in the quarterfinals, falling to partners from Army 6-3.

 
Tomorrow morning play will continue in the Greyhound Women's Tennis Classic.
