TOWSON, Md. – Three members of the Towson University women's tennis team received end of the year accolades from the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA). The conference office announced the yearly honors, voted on by head coaches, on Friday morning.
Gaia Montecchi was named All-CAA Third Team in singles. The sophomore finished the season with a 15-5 record with victories on courts 1, 2 and 3. She spent most of the season at No. 2 flight – going 13-5. Montecchi had 14 straight set wins. Between February 14-March 28, she won nine-of-11 matches, including victories over Navy, William & Mary and Drexel.
"It got to a point that we expected Gaia to win every time she stepped on the court," Towson head coach
Jamie Peterson said. "She found a variety of ways to win in pressure situations and took pressure off the rest of the team. She has worked hard to improve different aspects of her game and is consistently mentally tough. This was on display all spring."
Towson's top doubles team of
Kiersten Tambe and
Chandrè Boshoff also earned All-CAA Third Team honors. The duo went 10-6 this season, including a 6-2 victory over Charleston's Sia Cariov and Francesca Salvato, who were named to All-CAA First Team.
"Kiersten and Chandre's double play went to another level this season," added Peterson. "Playing together for the second straight season, they really grew as a team. If Chandre did not miss four matches because of an ankle injury, they very well could have made Second Team"
Towson also nominated
Ashira Murray for all-league consideration. The junior went 15-4, including a 5-1 record in conference matches. Murray was undefeated in eight matches at No. 5 singles and went 7-4 at No. 4.
The last Towson singles player to be honored by the league was Amelia Lawson, who was an All-CAA Third Team selection in 2022. Themis Haliou and Alexa Martinez (Second Team – 2021) were the last doubles team to earn an all-league selection.
Towson finished the 2025-26 season with a 10-10 record.
