Women's Swimming & Diving Compete at Navy, JMU on Saturday

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's swimming and diving teams are traveling down to Annapolis, Maryland to compete against four teams.

Navy host Towson, University of Miami, George Washington and John Hopkins inside Lejeune Hall.

The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

On Saturday, the Tigers will travel to Harrisonburg, Virginia to compete against James Madison inside Savage Natatorium. The meet is slated for a 2 p.m. start.

Swimming Spotlight
Before each meet, the swimming and diving program will introduce us to someone in the senior class who will share highlights and their expectations of the season. This meet we introduce you to senior Maddi Mangum. Hailing from Hampton, Virginia the mass communications major will compete in the butterfly.

Every week the team looks to progress on what they been learning in practice and looks forward to applying it to the meets.

"I'm excited to see what this team can do, we brought in a large class of new talent so it'll be fun to see how everyone continues to progress and what we can accomplish this season," said Mangum.

Even though the anticipation is high for the season, Mangum is making sure her and her fellow classmates keep their cool and always handle business.

"This season will definitely be a wild card season, we graduated a huge class and brought in a big one too so it'll be cool to see how everyone handles all the ups and downs of a season, but everyone has huge goals whether being better than they've ever been or finding their grooves in new events," said Mangum.

"I personally am changing up my line-up for the season, so I'm excited for the change and challenge of racing some new individual events."

As Mangum is making sure everyone's energy stays high, she is really looking forward to competing in the Bucknell Invitational because it's the one meet where the intensity is unmatched.

Going forward Mangum just wants to have fun, swim fast and work hard at improving the numbers and records that have previously been set. Ultimately, she would love for the team to finish above third place at the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships.

Four years have gone by very quickly but having the constant motivation from her teammates when she is on the blocks and hearing everyone scream is something Mangum looks forward to each meet.

As you all watch Maddi Mangum compete this year, make sure her sparkly-winged eyeliner is intact and she had a good breakfast before the meet!
