Tiger Athletic Fund Donor of the Game: Fran Soistman Jr.

TOWSON, Md. – The Tiger Athletic Fund (TAF) Donor of the Game Presented by Spirit Cruises was awarded to Fran Soistman, Jr. during the Oct. 19 football game versus Bucknell at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium.

Prior to the game, Fran was invited to the third floor of the Field House to see the newly renovated Honor Way display, a project he had first funded in the mid 2000s when the building was refurbished. Fran participated in a ribbon cutting to officially launch the multi-dimensional hallway, which houses the Towson Athletic Hall of Fame in addition to current stats, new stories, updates and other archives. Moreover, its goal is to bring to life the word "Honor" and emphasize Towson Athletics Core Values: Trust, Integrity, Greatness, Engagement, Respect, Students first.

The ribbon cutting signified the completion of Phase I of the project and launched the starting point for Phase II, which will include additional signage, lighting and more visuals.

Fran graduated from Towson University in 1979 with a degree in accounting and received an honorary degree from the School of Business and Economics in 2015. Fran currently serves as the Executive Vice President of Aetna and had a big hand in the insurance company's merger with CVS Pharmacy. He has worked in the Health Insurance industry for most of his professional career.

Fran made his first donation to Towson University in 1989, and contributes annually at the Tiger Legend level ($25,000+). He's a huge fan of Towson Athletics and opens his home in Isle of Palms, South Carolina to host the men's basketball team and Pat Skerry every winter when they travel to town to play the College of Charleston.

"Fran's leadership, philanthropy and vision for Towson Athletics has propelled the athletic department into areas we couldn't have imagined possible," said Dan Crowley, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development. "We are so incredibly grateful for Fran and the tremendous role he plays in the development of over 500 student-athletes."
