LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Nine student-athletes from the Towson University softball team earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athlete honors following the 2018-19 academic year.

Cali Christopher, Lauren Civetti, Ashley Cruise, Julia Jackson, Nicole Kidwiler, Breanna McDowell, Jaclyn Mounie, Chloe Poulich and Julia Smith-Harrington were among the record breaking 8,161 student-athletes honored.
The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories

"I am so proud of their commitment to academics," said head coach Lisa Costello. "They work hard both in the classroom and on the field! Our freshman did not miss one minute of study hall the entire year."

All nine Tigers were also named to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for the spring semester. The honor gives recognition to student-athletes who have distinguished themselves both in the classroom and in their sport. These student-athletes are members of a CAA sport and achieved at least a 3.0 grade point average based on their semester or quarter performance.

The spring 2019 honor roll included 2,478 student-athletes, a CAA record.

Smith-Harrington was also named to the CoSIDA All-District® Team last spring after having a 3.92 grade point average.

The NFCA honored 1,769 student-athletes from NCAA Division I softball student-athletes this week who earned a 3.5 grade-point average or higher.
