BALTIMORE, Md. – Tuesday afternoon, Towson University women's basketball head coach Diane Richardson and senior forward Nukiya Mayo traveled to Coppin State University for the 2019 Baltimore Basketball Media Day.
 
Seven schools from the Greater Baltimore Area were present, including Towson and Coppin State. The annual event featured a panel discussion with head coaches of both men's and women's basketball from Towson, Coppin State, Navy, UMBC, Loyola, Morgan State and Mount Saint Mary's.
 
Rob Long from 105.7 The Fan hosted the panel asking coaches about a variety of questions, from their return to the court coming up next month to how the game of basketball has grown.
 
Richardson met with reporters from WBAL, WMAR, WJZ, The Baltimore Sun, WNST and The Towerlight. Mayo also spoke with print, radio and TV as the two were asked to flash their CAA Championship rings for cameras.
 
Today's media event is the first of two this week as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Digital Media Day takes place on Thursday starting at 12 p.m. with online coverage and an afternoon teleconference for all head coaches in the conference. Richardson is scheduled to be on the call at 2:53 p.m.
 
Following a record-setting season in 2018-19, Towson starts the slate in 27 days after playing its last game on March 22 at UConn in the NCAA Tournament.
 
Returning in the Black and Gold are starters Ryan Holder, Kionna Jeter, Nukiya Mayo and Q. Murray. The scoring tandem of Kionna Jeter and Nukiya Mayo was the highest in the CAA last season, averaging 31.18 points per game together. The next highest scoring duo was Shrita Parker and Gigi Smith of UNCW, averaging 24.14 points per game.

The Tigers also have some new faces that will be suiting up in Myasia Jones, Maggie Sharp, Wiebke Schwartau, Myka Johnson-Matthews, LaKaitlin Wright, Khyra Williams and Bianca Glover.
