TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's swimming and diving teams are opening the 2019-20 season on Thursday, Oct. 10 when they travel to Washington, D.C. to face Georgetown.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. inside Albert G. Mccarthy, Jr. Swimming Pool.
"We can't wait for our first meet," said head coach
Jake Shrum. "The girls have been doing a great job training and encouraging each other at every practice."
New Season
This season the Tigers have welcomed 13 new freshman to the team all who have already made great contributions and additions to the team.
"All our freshman will immediately contribute in their best event," said Shrum.
The senior class is ready to build on their success from last year.
Jacki Schoening and
Megan Cowan are both defending Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Champions. They are ready to help lead the way. Adding the freshmen to the mix will bring depth to the team to help each group have successful events.

Swimming Spotlight
Before each meet, the swimming and diving program will introduce us to someone in the senior class who will share highlights and their expectations of the season. This meet we introduce you to senior
Meghan Jones. Hailing from Newark, Delaware the business administration marketing major will compete in the freestyle, backstroke and individual medley.
With the positive energy Jones brings to the team she is ready to have that carry over into her team mates.
"We have been training really well so we are excited to see how that transfers over in meets," said Jones.
"My plan is to make sure we all stay positive and support each other in and out of the pool! It is our first time with this new team and I'm excited for the rest of the season with everyone."
As Jones is making sure to make every moment count, she is really looking forward to training in Florida this year.
Even though Jones is anticipating the first home meet on Oct. 26 versus William & Mary, she and the Tigers have to go through the Hoyas of Georgetown first.
With every meet comes focus and hard work and that is something Jones wants to ensure the team has.
"Even though we are at the beginning of the season, everyone is really focused on racing well and carrying over everything we work on in practice".
As you all watch
Meghan Jones compete this year, make sure she has had her strawberry banana smoothie!
