Volleyball’s Allen Named CoSIDA Academic All-District®

TOWSON, Md. -- While leading the Towson University women's volleyball program to its best start in league play in program history, Camryn Allen has earned recognition off the court.

The junior libero has been selected to the 2019 Academic All-District® Volleyball Team as a representative from District 2, which encompasses Maryland, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Kentucky, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) made its announcement Thursday afternoon.

Allen was one of two student-athletes from the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) selected to the 2019 Academic All-District ® Volleyball Team. Hofstra senior Laura Masciullo was selected for District 1.

The 2019 Academic All-District® Volleyball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.

Individually, Allen has a team-best 340 digs, averaging 3.82 digs per set. Entering the final weekend of the regular season, Allen has a serve receiving percentage of .964, mishandling opponent serves just 12 times this season on 331 receptions. The 5-foot, 7-inch defensive specialist has 32 service aces to date, putting in at least one in each of the Tigers' last 22 matches.
