Fans Encouraged To Bring Non-Perishable Items Saturday

TOWSON, Md. – In addition to being able to take photos with Santa, fans attending the Towson-Northeastern men's basketball game on Saturday, Dec. 28 have the opportunity to make a meaningful community impact.

Non-perishable food items will be collected in an effort to help with food insecurity in the community. The drive is sponsored by A Can Can Make A Difference. Fans can drop off items as they enter SECU Arena to watch the Tigers' Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) opener. Tickets for the game are $5.

While the homeless remain the most visible faces of hunger, the need for food assistance is rising among children, seniors, and working families and this a chance for everybody to make a difference and provide a service for a worthy cause.

At the core of our hearts, humans want to do something to improve our society. Many think that one person cannot do it on their own. However, it all starts with you. It starts with one person saying that they want to make a difference and putting in that effort.

A Can Can Make A Difference serves many agencies, including shelters, soup kitchens, church and agency pantries. They help meet the diversified needs of those in our communities. On January 23, 1992, war was declared on hunger. Since that day, outreach centers, soup kitchens, churches, and local government agencies have banded together to feed the poverty-stricken residents of Baltimore City and the State of Maryland.

The game between Towson and Northeastern should be entertaining. Both teams enter the game with 6-6 records. Towson and Northeastern split two meetings last year with the Tigers winning at home. The Huskies competed in the 2019 NCAA Division I tournament after winning the CAA Tournament championship.

Northeastern features on of the top scorers in the nation in senior Jordan Roland, who is averaging 22.4 points per contest. Towson counters with a balanced attack led by senior Brian Fobbs, who is averaging 23.3 points per game over the Tigers' last three games. Sophomore Allen Betrand, who has made a 3-pointer in every game, chips in with an 11.8 point per game average.

One person can make a difference, and everyone should try. One act of generosity makes the world a better place and injects plenty of positivity into the world.

This is a chance to enjoy some great basketball, have some fun, donate to a worthy cause and improve the world. All this for $5. Enter the promo code "Holidays" when ordering tickets online.
