Woodall Named to USILA Division I Team of the Week

LOUISVILLE, KY - After a solid first performance at the faceoff spot this season, Towson University men's lacrosse senior midfielder Alex Woodall was selected to the USILA Division I Team of the Week.

The United States Intercollegiate Coaches' Association (USILA) made the announcement Tuesday morning.

Woodall, who hails from Annapolis, Maryland, went 21 of 28 at the X in the Tigers' 17-8 win over Charles Street rival No. 7 Johns Hopkins. The senior co-captain was crucial to the Tigers' gaining separation as Towson put together a 13-1 run in the second and third quarters. In those periods, Woodall won a combined 12 of the 15 draws.

En route to the win, Woodall collected 17 ground balls, the most by a Tiger under head coach Shawn Nadelen, who took over the program in 2012. In addition to his work on faceoffs, Woodall added three points to his day, scoring a goal and feeding Brendan Sunday two assists. In the middle of the fourth quarter, Woodall won a draw after a Hopkins goal and hit Sunday with a pass. The latter half of the battery scored just three seconds after the Blue Jays, tying the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse record for fastest goals between opponents.

Woodall and the No. 10/No. 7 Tigers make their first road trip of the season this Friday when they head to Emmitsburg, Maryland for a 3 p.m. showdown at Mount St. Mary's Waldron Family Stadium.
