BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Towson University women's swimming & diving team holds third place at the conclusion of day three of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship, bolstered by six finishes in the top-four of events.
The finishes included one gold medal and two silvers, headlined by
Jacki Schoening winning the 100-yard breaststroke.
Towson stands in third-place overall with 352.2 points heading into the final day of competition. William & Mary is in first with 442 points.
Highlights:
- The Tigers earned the top-two spots in the 100-yard breaststroke, both earning NCAA qualifying times: Jacki Schoening took the gold at 1:01.58, with Amanda Rosa notching the silver at 1:01.81.
- In the 100-yard backstroke, Haley Sutton took the silver medal, arriving in 54.60. Maddi Mangum was in fourth place at 55.43.
- Annemarie Schnoor picked up a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:48.81.
- Getting eighth in the 400-yard individual medley was Suzannah Mills with a final time of 4:28.32.
- Towson had two top-six finishes in the 100-yard butterfly with Mangum being tied for sixth at 55.45 and Tara Goss having eighth at 55.97.
- Completing the day with the 400-yard medley relay, the team of Sutton, Schoening, Mangum and Schnoor finished second for a team time of 3:41.70.
Next Up:
The Championship will wrap up tomorrow at Christiansburg Aquatic Center with the trials beginning at 10 a.m. Events will include the 1-meter dive, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly and 1650-yard freestyle.
