BLACKSBURG, Va. – With
Amanda Rosa winning the 200-yard breaststroke, the Towson University women's swimming & diving team finished in third place after the final day of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship.
Towson finished with 555.5 points for its third-place finish, the fourth year in a row the Tigers have taken the bronze as a team. In total, the Tigers picked up three gold, three silver and three bronze medals plus had four NCAA qualifying times.
On Saturday, Towson racked up four finishes in the top-four to complete the meet.
James Madison took the championship with 726 points, followed by William & Mary with 657.
Highlights:
- Amanda Rosa earned the gold medal in the 200-yard breaststroke, completing the race in a time of 2:15.04. Teammate Jacki Schoening finished eighth at 2:19.79.
- Coming in second in the 200-yard butterfly was Megan Cowan at 2:01.48, while Maddi Mangum was in sixth-place at 2:02.76.
- Emily Wilson earned a fourth-place finish in the 1-meter diving, picking up a score of 259.60. Victoria Zozzaro, with a score of 241.40, got seventh-place in the A-final.
- Annemarie Schnoor earned a fourth-place showing in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.38. Ryan Ulrich came in seventh at 51 seconds flat.
- Towson had two participants in the A-final of the 200-yard backstroke, with Haley Sutton getting seventh at 2:01.99 and Meghan Jones being in eighth at 2:03.05.
- In the 1650-yard freestyle, Jones finished in eighth place, concluding with a time of 17:07.77. In 12th was Zeynep Balto at 17:15.01.
- The final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, the Towson team of Mangum, Ulrich, Cowan and Schnorr got fifth with a time of 3:24.72.
