TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team opens conference play as they travel to Wilmington, North Carolina for a three-game weekend series against University of North Carolina Wilmington.
The first pitch is slated for noon on Saturday at Boseman Field.
The Tigers (13-10, 0-0 CAA) are coming off back-to-back wins against Coppin State on Tuesday. In the first game Towson defeated the Eagles 12-0 then came right back and defeated them 15-0 in the afternoon doubleheader.
In game one
Julia Smith-Harrington threw her third shutout and seventh complete game of the season.
Nicole Stockinger,
Kendall Arcia,
Chloe Poulich and
Jess DaBreo had two hits each for the Tigers.
In game two Stockinger finished a double shy of hitting for the cycle. She and
Riley Thies had three hits each to lead the Tiger 15-hit attack.
Jaclyn Mounie, Thies and Stockinger scored three runs each.
Sara Johnson and
Melissa Abrahamian combined for the shutout for the Tigers.
Scouting the Seahawks (18-12, 0-0 CAA)
UNCW defeated Canisius 4-0 in the opener of their doubleheader on March 19. The Seahawks then followed up with a 10-1 win in the second game.
Sophomore Carson Shaner led the Seahawks offense by going 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and five runs batted in. Jada Santiago and junior Rachel Willis each added two hits. Senior Haley Lenderman had her third shutout in the first game. Junior Rylee Pate earned her eighth win in the circle in the second game giving up just one hit in three innings.
