TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team will travel to Fairfax, Virginia for a mid-week doubleheader against George Mason. First pitch from the George Mason Softball Complex is at 4 p.m.
Going into the matchup Towson (14-12, 1-2 CAA) is coming off of an 8-1 victory over UNCW on Sunday behind three hits each from
Nicole Stockinger and
Riley Thies, who also had two scored runs.
Sara Johnson was the winning pitcher.
Through 26 games, Towson's top hitters are Thies (.383 batting average), Stockinger (.377) and Smith-Harrington (.373). Smith-Harrington leads Towson in doubles with nine. Stockinger leads the teams in home runs (seven) and runs batted in (24). Smith-Harrington and Kendal Arcia are tied with 22 RBI's.
In the circle, Johnson (65 strikeouts) and Smith-Harrington (57) have combined for 112 strikeouts.
Scouting George Mason (14-12, 1-2 A-10)
George Mason won its first conference game 6-3 over Dayton on Sunday.
In the game senior Jess Curbeira went 3-for-4 with a RBI double while Meghan Graham set career highs in hits (3) and RBIs (2). Redshirt junior Marina Vitalich pitched 4.2 innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out three batters. Junior Bekah Ansbro picked up her first save of the season with 2.1 innings of work including three strikeouts in the sixth inning.
For the Patriots, Alyssa Lawton has a .333 batting average, Liz Seymor leads the teams with 12 RBI's and Curbeira leads the team in doubles with five.

Towson will compete against conference foe James Madison, ranked 20th nationally in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top 25 poll, March 30-31 in the Tiger Softball Stadium. The first game is at noon on the 30th and will also serve as the alumnae game. All former alum will be recognized before the game.
