TOWSON, Md. – A Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) matchup begins as the Towson University softball team faces conference opponent College of Charleston this weekend in Tiger Softball Stadium.
The Tigers will play three games starting with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 13 with first pitch slated for noon.
Towson (19-19, 3-6 CAA) is on a four game win streak after beating Georgetown 9-3 Wednesday afternoon. At Tiger Softball Stadium,
Nicole Stockinger hit her 37th career home run while
Breanna McDowell hit her first career home run to ignite the hits for the Tigers.
Towson is led by Stockinger who leads with a .373 batting average, home runs (12) and runs batted in (35). In the conference she is third in runs scored (34) and home runs and fourth in slugging percentage (.833).
Julia Smith-Harrington leads the team in doubles (14) and is second in the CAA, second in RBI (29).
Nicole Kidwiler leads the team in triples (3) and is third in the conference.
In the Circle for the Tigers,
Sara Johnson is leading the way with a 9-6 overall record, 3.06 ERA and 102 strikeouts. She is also second in the conference with strikeouts. She is third in the conference with batters striking out looking (24).
Scouting College of Charleston (18-21, 3-6 CAA)
The Cougars fell to Georgia Southern 2-1 this past Wednesday evening. Charleston had an early 1-0 lead with Noel Domonique's first at bat, but later in the seventh inning the Cougars could not come back for the victory.
Charleston is led by Lexee Emanuel who leads the team in RBIs (20) and is tied with two other Cougars who have 10 doubles each. Gracyn Thrasher leads the team in home runs (3).
In the circle, Chandler Sparkman leads the team in strikeouts (57) and has 2.70 ERA. Drayton Siegling has a 6-3 record and is second in strikeouts with 29.
