TOWSON, Md. – Helping the Towson University baseball team to a trio of victories,
Javon Fields has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
This is Fields's first-ever conference weekly award. The team has two this season, including a Pitcher of the Week honor for
Josh Seils in March.
The rookie assisted Towson in winning its first CAA series of the year, taking two of three at Hofstra, plus a mid-week matchup against George Mason.
The leadoff hitter and starting centerfielder for all five games this week, the Bear, Delaware native hit .333, adding two walks and a hit-by-pitch for a .417 on-base percentage. Fields scored seven times, adding two doubles, a triple, four RBI and a pair of stolen bases.
Fields and the Tigers will get ready for tomorrow's game at UMBC, with first pitch set for 6 p.m.
