TOWSON, Md. – The regular season will come to an end this week for the Towson University women's basketball team with a two-game road trip.
The Tigers face William & Mary on Thursday at 7 p.m. before traveling to face Elon on Saturday at 2 p.m. Both games will be on FloSports and links to live stats can be found on the women's basketball schedule page on TowsonTigers.com.
Last Time Out
Towson is coming off a split weekend after defeating Delaware last Friday and falling by three points to Drexel on Sunday.
Nukiya Mayo led the Tigers on Friday with 26 points. Both she and
Kionna Jeter scored 17 on Sunday against the Dragons. On Sunday the road team took a hefty lead early and went into the locker room at halftime with the advantage. Towson clawed back the entire third period and took the lead for the first time during the third. In the fourth quarter, the Tigers came within one point of tying it up but were unable to close the gap, losing 63-60.
Scouting the Tigers
Kionna Jeter leads the offense with 18.6 points per game.
Nukiya Mayo and
Q. Murray wrap the trio of double-figure scorers with 16.3 and 11.1 points on average respectively. Mayo holds the lead in rebounds with 7.6 a night while Murray averages 5.2 assists per game.
Ryan Holder has 43 blocks this season for 1.6 a game, leading the team. Jeter continues to lead Towson in steals with 3.1 a game. Towson enters the week with a 14-13 record overall and 9-7 in conference play. The Tigers have already lost to both the Tribe and the Phoenix this season.
Scouting the Tribe
Eva Hodgson leads William & Mary with 20.4 points per game. Victoria Reynolds is also averaging double-figures with 15.6 points a night while grabbing 6.1 boards on average. Nyla Pollard paces the offense with 3.8 assists per game. The Tribe have already reached 20 wins, holding an overall record of 20-7 and an 11-5 mark in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action. William & Mary is coming off two straight wins, most recently at home over Elon, after falling in overtime to Drexel on Feb. 21. Drexel and UNCW are the only CAA teams thus far to defeat the Tribe at home. This season in Kaplan Arena, William & Mary is 9-3.
The William & Mary Series
Thursday will be the 37th meeting between Towson and The College of William & Mary in women's basketball action. The Tribe lead the series 20-16 and won the last meeting on Jan. 5, 83-75 in SECU Arena. Towson has won four of the last eight meetings, the most recent victory for the Black & Gold was in February of 2019, an 82-75 win on the road. In Williamsburg the Tribe have a 9-8 advantage.
Scouting the Phoenix
Elon enters the week with a 12-15 overall record and 7-9 in conference play. The Phoenix have lost the last four games, their last win was over Hofstra on Friday, Feb. 14 at home. Before Saturday's meeting against Towson, Elon will host James Madison on Thursday night. Ariel Colon leads the offense with 11.4 points per game with Brie Perpignan contributing 10.5. Colon leads on the glass too with five rebounds on average. The Phoenix have CAA wins over Towson, Charleston, UNCW and Hofstra.
The Elon Series
Saturday will be the 12th meeting between Towson and Elon. The Phoenix hold an 8-3 series advantage. Last season Towson defeated the Phoenix twice, the first win against Elon came in the 2015-16 season. Earlier this season the Phoenix came to SECU Arena and left with their first conference win of the year, a 74-61 victory.

Kionna Jeter is currently second in the CAA in scoring (19.0 ppg) while
Nukiya Mayo holds sixth (16.1) the duo are averaging 35.1 points per game together, the second-best scoring partners in the conference. The scoring tandem also appear in the rebounding top-10, Mayo sixth (7.8 rpg) and Jeter seventh (7.0 rpg).
Q. Murray leads the conference in the conference in assists (5.1 per game) and is second in assist/turnover ratio (2.1). Mayo is ranked for a third time in blocked shots, she is third in the CAA (1.4 bpg) and
Ryan Holder is second (1.5 bpg). Jeter leads the league in steals (3.3 spg).

Last season
Kionna Jeter reached a peak in the top-10 of scorers nationally. She is currently 34th in points per game (18.8) as of March 3. She is also 10th in steals per game (3.15 avg.) and 12th in steals (85).
Q. Murray holds it down on the assist category, she is currently 27th in assists per game (5.2), 44th in assist/turnover ratio (2.07) and 38th in assists (141).

Tigers In The Community
The Towson University athletics department deems community service as one of its highest priorities to give back to the Greater Baltimore area. For the seventh consecutive year, the department exceeded 10,000 hours of community service to the Greater Baltimore region, finishing with 11,162 hours of community service in the 2018-19 academic season. Towson ranked No. 1 nationally for community service and won the 2018 National Championship for Community Service through the Helper Helper NCAA Team Works Competition. Towson had a 97% participation rate, attended 118 community service opportunities and volunteered with 19 organizations. Towson won the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award from Susan G. Komen of Maryland.
