Four Women's Golfers Named WGCA All-American Scholars

TOWSON, Md. - Towson University's Julia Calomiris, Emma Cox, Erica Han and Sarah Perine were named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team announced Monday.

There were 1,401 total women's collegiate golfers recognized with this honor; which has a stringent criteria for selection. The minimum cumulative GPA to be selected is a 3.50.

This is the second-straight year for Calomiris, Han and Perine to receive this accolade. Cox collects her first recognition for academics after wrapping up her freshman year.

A rising junior, Calomiris competed in the Kiawah Classic this spring and finished tied for 109th overall after a tournament score of 230 (+14). In the fall season she competed in five events and finished with a 76.9 average over 14 rounds. Calomiris shot a career low 71 in the second day of the Towson Invitational where she finished second overall.

Finishing her senior year on a high note with this academic accolade, Han competed in the  Kiawah Classic and finished with a tournament score of 233 (+17), the spring season was cut short due to the Coronavirus global pandemic. In the 2019 fall campaign, she competed in five events and finished with a 77.8 average over 14 rounds. Han shot a fall low round of 74 (+2) in the first round of the Bucknell Invitational and had three top 20 finishes.

Now heading into her senior year, Perine competed in the Kiawah Classic this spring and finished with a tournament score of 244 (+28), her lowest round was a 79 in the first. During fall action, Perine competed in five events and finished with a 76.6 average over 14 rounds, which was second on the team. She shot a fall career low 71 in the first round of Lady Blue Hen Invitational. Perine had two top 15 finishes and earned her first career CAA Women's Golfer of the Week honor after helping the Tigers to a third-place finish at the Bucknell Invitational.

Cox, a rising sophomore, saw her first collegiate year with action in the Kiawah Classic and competed as an individual. Cox Finished with a tournament score of 244 (+28) …  Carded a six-over 78 in the first round, which was a career best, she had the eighth-best score out of the 17 individual competitors. In the fall of 2019 she competed in three events.
