Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- While dominating last fall on the court, the Towson University women's volleyball team dominated in the classroom as well, leading the Tigers to a United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award.

The Tigers were one of three members of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) to earn the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award. Towson was joined by Hofstra and UNCW.

The 2020 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award saw 200 more programs honored than a year ago as 1,314 programs across all divisions, men's and women's volleyball. The award was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honoring programs with a year-long grade point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale.

Towson, the reigning CAA champion, had 20 student-athletes post at least a 3.30 GPA in the spring semester, including 11 perfect 4.0 semesters.
