Back in the Water
A fresh season awaits the Towson University men's and women's swimming & diving programs. A young women's side returns five medalists while a deep men's program returns 17 medals from last season's title team.
In The National Rankings
The CSCAA has not issued a top 25 for men's or women's swimming and diving this fall. In the last poll, released on March 11, 2021, no team competing this weekend at Burdick Pool was mentioned.
The Home Sweet Home Tigers - Women
Saturday will be just the second time in a calendar year the women's team officially competes at Burdick Pool. The women's team is riding a five-meet winning streak from the friendly confines at home, dating back to Jan. 12, 2019 in a 169-127 rout of Drexel. The women return home again at the end of January to cap the regular season.
On the boards, Towson returns
Christina Coleman, who competed at the 2021 NCAA Zone A Diving Championship in the spring, and
Sarah DiGaetano, both of whom competed at the CAA Championships.
Between the lane lines, Towson returns five medals from the CAA Championship Meet in the spring, including two silvers and three bronzes.
Katie Nunez is back after a taking silver in the 100-yard freestyle and a third-place finish in the 200-yard IM. Senior
Suzannah Mills returns with a bronze finish in the 400-yard IM. Junior
Hailey Ritter took second in the 100-yard butterfly, an event that featured four Tigers in the A Final, half the field for the event.
Tiffany Matulis is back for a sophomore campaign, enjoying a third-place finish for the 100-yard backstroke in her first CAA Championship meet.
The young Tigers are not without experience: 17 Tigers on this year's roster competed in individual events at the championship meet in the spring.
Scouting the Dukes
James Madison is coming off its fourth-straight CAA Championship in the spring. The Dukes won the meet with 829 points, William & Mary took second (663) while the Tigers finished third (605). Last spring, James Madison went 3-0 in dual meets, topping Marshall (172-126), Delaware (177-123) and Richmond (182-117). Saturday will be James Madison's first trip to Burdick Pool since Oct. 13, 2018.
