TOWSON, Md. — With the end of the fall season, the Towson women's tennis team and head coach Jamie Peterson have announced the 2022 spring campaign.
The packed schedule features 22 total matches, including 13 at home and nine on the road.
"We are really excited about the opportunity to play a full season this spring," head coach Jamie Peterson said. "We are also excited about having 13 home matches, 10 of which will be at our outdoor complex. The spring presents a really good opportunity for us to have our best season in a while. From this point on, if we can continue to focus on game improvement and coming together as a group, good things will happen."
This will be Peterson's fifth year at the helm of the Towson women's tennis program. After serving as the team's interim head coach in 2016-17, he was officially named head coach prior to the 2017-18 season.
To kick off the season, the Tigers will travel to Virginia for a pair of matches. The team will first take on Mary Washington on Feb. 10 at 3 p.m. before Richmond the following day at 12 p.m. at the Eagles' University Tennis Complex.
On Feb. 12, the team will travel back home to take on the University of Maryland for a 5 p.m. start.
To finish out the month, Towson will play host to Johns Hopkins (Feb. 19) and Fairleigh Dickinson (Feb. 26) at the Coppermine Racquet and Fitness Club in Pikesville, Maryland. Both of those matches will start at 6 p.m. at the indoor facility. The Tigers will play their third and final match at the Coppermine Racquet and Fitness Club against Navy on March 5 also at 6 p.m.
From there, the black & gold will begin a five-match road stint beginning on March 12 at West Virginia (3 p.m.). The next day, the Tigers will travel to Pennsylvania take on Saint Francis for at 1 p.m.
Eight matches into the spring season, Towson will kick off Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play with the College of Charleston. That match will be held at UNCW on March 19 (TBA). The following day, the Tigers will play the Seahawks at 10 a.m.
To end the road swing, the team will go up against Mount St. Mary's on March 26 at 3 p.m.
With the arrival of April and warmer weather, Towson will see its first action of the spring at the Tiger Tennis Complex. The team will host five opponents in a span of 10 days for their first home dual matches on the outdoor courts.
The Tigers will welcome Hofstra for their first conference home contest on April 1 at 3 p.m. Just two days later on April 3, the black & gold will host a doubleheader against Coppin State (10 a.m.) and Georgetown (3 p.m.).
The following week, Towson will host Delaware on April 7 (3 p.m.) followed by William & Mary on April 9 (1 p.m.) and Norfolk State on April 10 (TBA).
For their final road trip of the season, the Tigers will travel to Philadelphia to face Drexel for a midweek contest on Wednesday, April 13.
Towson will host four home matches to close out the 2022 spring campaign. The team will welcome back Saint Joseph's and Delaware State, after hosting both teams in the fall, for matches on April 15 (3 p.m.) and April 16 (1 p.m.), respectively. The Tigers will also play Bucknell on April 17 at 1 p.m. to finish out the weekend.
To wrap up regular season, George Mason will come to the Tiger Tennis Complex on Saturday, April 23 for a 1 p.m. start.
The 2022 women's tennis CAA Championships will be hosted by Elon from April 28 to May 1.
