Gymnastics Receives Votes in WCGA Preseason Poll

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – As the 2022 season approaches, the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) released its annual preseason poll as voted by the members of the WCGA.

The Towson University women's gymnastics team landed high in the receiving votes category, picking up 202 points. The Tigers were the fourth team in the receiving votes column behind Kent State (243), Temple (210), and Eastern Michigan (205).

University of Michigan was first in the poll, garnering 2405 points with 37 first-place votes. University of Florida was second with 2319 points and 16 first-place nods with University of Oklahoma in third with 2317 points and six first-place votes. University of Utah (2306 points, 8 first place) and LSU (2719 points, 1 first place) rounded out the top five of the WCGA preseason poll.

In total, 12 of Towson's 2022 opponents were named in the WCGA preseason poll: NC State (21), Utah State (26), West Virginia (30), Maryland (31), North Carolina (35), Temple (RV), Eastern Michigan (RV), George Washington (RV), New Hampshire (RV), Pittsburgh (RV), Penn (RV), and LIU (RV)

The Tigers open the 2022 season with a trip to Durham, New Hampshire for a tri-meet at New Hampshire alongside Southern Connecticut State University. Action is set for 2 p.m. on Jan. 9.

Towson's home opener is slated for Jan. 14 with a 6 p.m. meet against No. 30 West Virginia, William & Mary, and West Chester University.

Season tickets for the 2022 campaign are still available, with adult tickets priced at $25, youth (5-17) season tickets are priced at $20 and senior (65 years or older) season tickets are available for $20.
