Kiawah Island, S.C. – At the end of the opening round of the Kiawah Island Classic, Jordan Cornelius leads the Towson women's golf team tied for second place as an individual, shooting three-under-par.
Cornelius and Raeysha Surendran of Murray State are tied with a score of 69 while DBU's Faith DeLaGarza sits in first, shooting five-under 67.
Julia Calomiris shot seven over 79 followed by Faith Mcilvain who carded 10 over 82. Madison Barber finished the first round 14-over par, for a score of 86. Rounding out the team, Jayla Kang carded 16 over 88.
Cornelius made two birdies on the back-nine and an eagle on the fourth hole. Barber added two birdies of her own while Calomiris and Mcilvain also contributed one each.
Towson ended the first round in 32nd place. The Tigers shot a collective 316 (+28).
Towson will start the second round of the tournament on Monday at 8:40 a.m.
