BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Three members of the Towson University field hockey team have been named 2020-21 Division I Scholars of Distinction by the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association. The announcement was made Thursday morning.
Junior Pamela Abbott, freshman Annie Keele and senior Jessica von Schmidt-Pauli were among over 250 student-athletes recognized. Abbott has now earned the award three times and Von Schmidt-Pauli is a four-year honoree.
The Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2020-21 academic year.
The University of Louisville placed the most student-athletes on the Scholars of Distinction list this year, with 12 honorees. Fairfield University and Ohio University had the second most with 9 honorees apiece.
Two Division I academic awards remain to be announced — the NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Awards will be released on March 29. The NFHCA Division I National Scholar-Athlete will be announced on June 15, 2021.
