BOSTON, Mass. – The Towson University field hockey team travel to Northeastern for its first road game of the season on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Dedham Field. The contest will mark the first of four consecutive matchups on the road.
The game will be streamed via Howlin' Huskies Productions.
Following a 4-0 loss to Delaware and a win over La Salle last weekend, the Tigers will arrive in Boston with a 2-1 (0-1 CAA) record.
LAST TIME OUT
Towson got its first win of the 2021 spring season with a 2-1 victory over La Salle on Sunday. Samantha Aljets scored both goals for the Tigers and leads the team with four points. Goalkeeper Lena Vandam made 5 saves against the Explorers to improve her save percentage to .724. She has made 21 saves so far this season.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Towson leads the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in saves her game, averaging 8.33 per contest. The Tigers also top the conference in defense saves with four total to average 1.33 per game. Kasey Bubel has contributed three defensive saves which all came in the first game of the season against Syracuse. She is one of two players in the league to register more than one defensive save in a single game with the other being Sarah Beers of James Madison.
THE NORTHEASTERN SERIES
Northeastern (1-4, 0-0 CAA) owns a 20-3 all-time record against Towson. The Huskies have won the last eight contests between the two teams including the most recent in Oct. of 2019 when Towson fell, 2-1. The Tigers last victory came in 2011 with a 1-0 win.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
In their last game, Northeastern fell to No. 16 Boston College, 7-3. Lauren Rowe put the Huskies on the board in the second quarter off a penalty stroke. The sophomore currently leads the league with four goals in addition to contributing two assists and 13 shots on goal.
