Montgomery Named CAA Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- After scoring his first career hat trick, Towson University men's lacrosse midfielder Tim Montgomery collected the first weekly award of his Black and Gold career.

The Mt. Laurel, New Jersey native was selected as the CAA Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week. The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) made its announcement Tuesday morning. Drexel's Sean Donnelly was named CAA Rookie of the Week.

Montgomery picked a very good time for the first hat trick of his career, netting three goals in an upset over No. 12 Loyola on Saturday. Montgomery scored the game-winner 2:41 into overtime for Towson's first win over a ranked opponent this season. Montgomery scored Towson's first of the day on an extra-man chance late in the first quarter, before scoring a goal to give Towson its first lead of the day with 3:15 to play in the fourth. He then scored in overtime, getting under his defender for the Tigers' second-straight win over a ranked Loyola team at home.

The Tigers hit the road this weekend with a return to CAA play. Towson takes on Hofstra, ranked 15th in the USILA Coaches' Poll, Saturday afternoon at noon. The clash will be at Shuart Stadium, site of the 2021 CAA Men's Lacrosse Championship in May.
