Three Individuals and Relay Pick Up Medals at Day Two

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. -- An evening session full of twists, turns and plenty of hardware highlighted day two of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Swimming Championships on Tuesday.

Through two days, the Towson University women's team sits in third place overall at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center, scoring 381 points behind James Madison (546) and William & Mary (432).

Hailey Ritter had the Tigers' top individual performance of the night, taking silver in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 54.64 seconds. She was less than a second off the gold medal time (53.91). Suzannah Mills took third in the 400 yard individual medley with a 4 minute, 23.34 second effort.

The evening session got off to a quirky start as Towson won the first heat of the 200 medley relay with a 1:43.10, which started as the fourth-best time. But two disqualifications later and the Tigers finished with silver in the event for Elise Devlin, Tiffany Matulis, Maddie Mince and Ritter.

How It Happened
  • Maddie Frick opened the day with a berth in the 400-yard individual medley A Finals, going for a 4 minute, 25.87 second finish in her preliminary heat. Holly Greenleaf grabbed a spot in the B Finals with a 4:36.22.
  • The Tigers had a huge effort in the preliminary heats of the 100-yard butterfly, placing four Tigers into the A Finals, representing half the field. Ritter and Samantha Casolo finished with the second and third fastest times in the preliminary round at 54.97 and 55.22, respectively. Mince (55.55) and Andrea Ducar (55.59) had the sixth and seventh fastest preliminary swims. Freshman Victoria Dichak added a B Finals time of 57.01.
