Greensboro N.C. – The Towson University Golf team ended the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association Championship tied for fourth place with Elon out of seven teams.
The Tigers finished with a first round score of 321 (+33). Elon also has the same total.
James Madison (+14) currently leads after the first day with the College of Charleston (+18) and Delaware (+26) following behind. Behind Towson are William & Mary (+38) and Hofstra (+60).
Madison Barber topped the Tigers after the first round of the tournament shooting six over, 78. She is tied for ninth place with three other golfers.
Jordan Cornelius finished tied for 14th place with a total of 80 strokes (+8). Faith McIlvain followed closely behind, carding nine-over, 81. The freshman is currently tied for 19th.
Julia Calomiris and Sarah Perine both shot 10 over par, 82. They are both tied for 21st place.
Barber, Cornelius, Calomiris and Perine all shot one birdie in the first round.
The Tigers will continue with the second round of the tournament on Monday.
