Greensboro N.C. – The Towson University women's golf team ended the secund round of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship in fifth place out of seven teams.
The Tigers shot a second-round score of 309 (+21) to bring their tournament total to 630 (+54).
After being tied with Elon at the finish of the first round, the Phoenix ended just two strokes ahead of Towson with a second-round score of 307 (+19) to take lone possession of fourth place.
The College of Charleston (+17) leads the tournament going into the final 18 holes with James Madison (+33) and Delaware (+42) following. Behind Towson is William & Mary (+71) and Hofstra (+111).
Sarah Perine had the best second round for the Tigers, shooting four-over, 76. The senior tied for a team-best two birdies on the back-nine. She now has a tournament total of 158 (+14) and is tied for 17th place.
Both Jordan Cornelius and Julia Calomiris carded five-over, 77 during day two. Cornelius has now taken a total 157 strokes (+13) and is tied for 15th place. She also shot one birdie on the second hole. Calomiris is close behind with a total of 159 strokes (+15), tied for 20th place. The junior tied Perine on the day with two birdies on the front-nine.
Currently in 22nd place is Faith McIlvain. She shot seven-over-par, 79, to bring her tournament score to 160 (+16). The freshman shot her only birdie of the round on the final hole.
Madison Barber carded 17-over, 89 in the second round. She now has a tournament total score of 167 strokes (+23) and is tied for 28th place.
Towson will tee off at 8 a.m. on Tuesday for the third and final round of the championship tournament.
