TOWSON, Md. – The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) has announced that two people from the Towson University softball team was named to the 2021 All-CAA Conference teams, announced Tuesday afternoon.
The All-CAA teams and awards are determined by a vote by the league's eight head coaches.
Junior
Chloe Poulich was named to the Second Team and freshman
Mackenzie Lake was named to the All-Rookie Team.
Poulich has a .362 batting average and leads the teams in doubles (11) and RBIs (20). She is tied second on the team with triples (2). Currently, Poulich is ranked first in the CAA in doubles per game and 16th nationally. She is also ranked fourth in the conference in triples per game.
Lake in her rookie year has a .381 batting average and leads the team in hits (37), runs scored (22) and home runs (5). She finished the season with seven doubles and 16 RBIs. Currently, Lake is ranked seventh in the conference for her batting average (82 nationally), eighth in the conference slugging percentage (.608) and fourth in the conference for toughest to strike out.
Drexel's Linda Rush received the honor of CAA Player of the Year, while James Madison's Odicci Alexander and Madison Naujokas was named CAA Pitcher of the Year and CAA Defensive Player of the Year, respectively. Also, from the Dukes' Alissa Humphrey was named CAA Rookie of the Year and Loren LaPort was named CAA Coach of the Year.
