Back-to-Back Champs Announce 2021 Schedule

TOWSON, Md. -- Coming off its second-straight Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championship, the Towson University women's volleyball team has announced its schedule for the Fall 2021 campaign.

The Tigers, who won the CAA Tournament in 2019 and spring 2021, will play in the Greater Baltimore area for most of the opening month of the season. The fall 2021 slate features 17 home matches at SECU Arena, including back-to-back round robin weekends in August and September.

Towson, which has advanced to the NCAA Tournament in each of the last two seasons, opens the fresh campaign at the Baltimore Invite, hosted at Morgan State University. The Tigers draw the host Bears on Aug. 27 for a 4 p.m. first serve at Hill Field House. Towson rounds out the Baltimore Invite on Aug. 28 and 29 against Cleveland State (1:30 p.m.) and Binghamton (6:30 p.m.), respectively.

On Aug. 29, the Tigers head to the state capital for a showdown against the United States Naval Academy for a 2 p.m. match at Alumni Hall.

The following weekend, the Tigers will host the annual Towson Invite at SECU Arena. Joining the hosts will be Stony Brook, Loyola, Princeton and Morgan State. The Tigers open the Invite on Sept. 3 with a 10 a.m. match with Stony Brook before capping the day with a 6:30 p.m. clash with Charles Street rival Loyola. A battle of the Tigers on Sept. 4 sees Towson take on Princeton at 4 p.m. before returning to face Morgan State the following day at 1 p.m.

Up next for Towson will be the Tiger Invite, also hosted at SECU Arena. Alongside Towson will be Norfolk State, Florida Atlantic University, Lehigh and Temple. Towson's first match of the Tiger Invite will be Sept. 10 against Lehigh with a 1:30 p.m. first serve. Towson rounds out the opening day with a 6:30 p.m. match against FAU, followed by a 10 a.m. first serve on Sept. 11 against Temple. Towson's final invitational match of the season pits the Tigers against Norfolk State that same day at 4 p.m.

Diving into CAA action, the Tigers open league play on Long Island at Hofstra on Sept. 18 and Sept. 19. First serve times at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center have not yet been set by the Pride.

Towson begins a four-match, two-weekend home stand the following weekend, leading off against UNCW on Sept. 25 and Sept. 26 for a pair of 2 p.m. matches. The following weekend the Tigers host Elon on Oct. 2 and Oct. 3 for another pair of 2 p.m. showdowns.

The Tigers hit the road for the next two weekends of matches, heading first to Charleston, South Carolina on Oct. 9 and Oct. 10 at TD Arena, both with 1 p.m. first serves. After a bye week, the Tigers head to Colonial Williamsburg for a two-match set at William & Mary's Kaplan Arena, kicking off on Oct. 22 with a 7 p.m. match, followed by a 7:30 p.m. clash the following day.

Towson's penultimate home series brings the University of Delaware to SECU Arena over a split weekend. The Tigers host the Blue Hens on Friday, Oct. 29 for a 7 p.m. match, followed by a 1 p.m. showdown on Sunday, Oct. 31.

The Tigers' final road swing of the year sends Towson down to Harrisonburg, Virginia to face James Madison on Nov. 6 and Nov. 7. Match times are set for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, at Sinclair Gymnasium.

For the final weekend of the regular season, Towson brings Northeastern to SECU Arena on Nov. 13 and Nov. 14. Match times have not yet been set.

By virtue of winning the 2020 CAA Women's Volleyball Championship in early April 2021, the Tigers will host the 2021 CAA Women's Volleyball Championship at SECU Arena. More information about the Tournament will be made public on TowsonTigers.com as it becomes available.
