TOWSON, Md. — Towson women's lacrosse alum Tianna Wallpher was selected in the player draft for the upcoming Athletes Unlimited inaugural Lacrosse season that was held Tuesday night through Facebook Live.

Angie Benson, Meg Douty, Kylie Ohlmiller and Katie O'Donnell served as the captains and each compiled 14-player rosters from 56 of the top players in the country.

Wallpher was chosen by Team Benson for week one and will face Team Ohlmiller in the first game on opening weekend on Friday, July 23 at 5 p.m. The match will be available on CBS Sports Network. She will also see the field against Team Douty (July 24) and Team O'Donnell (July 25) with both games are slated for a 3 p.m. start and available on YouTube.

The league will play a short form, fast paced format consisting of eight-minute quarters, 9 v 9 gameplay and a 60-second shot clock all housed on a 90 x 60 yard playing field. Play will begin with draws at the beginning of each quarter as well as after every goal. Games will be played from July 19 to Aug. 22 at Maureen Hendricks Field in Boyds, Maryland.

Athletes Unlimited debuted a new scoring system in which players can rack up individual points based on their in-game performance.

At the end of each week, the four players with the most points will serve as captains and draft their own 14-player teams.

In addition to professional competition, Athletes Unlimited will also host its three-day National Summit from July 26 to July 28 for top elite middle and high school female lacrosse players from across the country.
