Men's Golf Announces 2021 Signing Class

TOWSON, Md. — Towson University men's golf head coach Mike Larkin has announced the 2021-22 signing class ahead of the fall season.  

The Tigers will be welcoming three freshmen in Vinny Fanucchi, Brad Freyberger and Phil Minnehan in addition to transfer Jeff Mankins.  

Vinny Fanucchi 

Hometown: Encinitas, Calif.
High School: Sage Creek 
Accolades: Top player on his high school's team … 2021 first team all-league selection … 2018 second team all-league … earned honor roll three years … also played basketball. 

Brad Freyberger 

Hometown: Ashburn, VA.
High School: Broad Run
Accolades: As a freshman he advanced to the Virginia State Championship and went back with his team as a junior … served as captain of the golf team his senior year and was honored as MVP … 2019 Dewey Ricketts champion … 2019 MAPGA Potomac Open champion … placed second in Bobby Brewers Match Play in 2019 … 2020 Lansdowne Men's Club champion … also played varsity hockey all four years of high school and served as a captain his senior year as well as receiving academic honors … four-year member of DECA. 

Phil Minnehan 

Hometown: Rochester, N.Y.
High School: McQuaid Jesuit H.S.
Accolades: 2021 AJGA Killington Junior Champion ... qualified for the 2017 and 2021 Boys Junior PGA Championship … 2019 Section champion … finished in second place out of 80 golfers at the New York State Junior Championship … finished high school with a 4.0 GPA and was a commended student for the National Merit Scholarship Program. 

Jeffrey Mankins 

Hometown: Indiana, Pa.
High School/Previous school: Greensburg Salem/Indiana University of Pennsylvania 
Accolades: Four-time varsity athlete in both golf and basketball … took first place at the 2017 HJGT College Prep Series at Penn State (14-15 division) … 2019 WPIAL Section champion … 2019 Westmoreland Country junior champion … Westmoreland County Junior Amateur Championship in 2020 and took third in the Tri-State Section PGA Junior Championship in the same year ... competed in one tournament at IUP… shot a 77 (+5) in the first round of the Cherokee Invitational to tie for 22nd... the second round of the tournament was cancelled due to weather.  

The Tigers will open the fall season on Sept. 5 with the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate, hosted by Missouri. The tournament will be in Verona, N.Y. at the Turning Stone Resort on the Kaluhyat course.
