Tennis Announces Fall Tournament Slate

TOWSON, Md. — The Towson University women's tennis team and head coach Jamie Peterson announced its 2021 fall slate of competition Thursday afternoon.  

The Tigers will compete in four tournaments, all within the state of Maryland, in the months of September and October to prepare for a full spring season.  

The team is set to kick things off at the Bedford Cup, hosted by the University of Maryland from Sept. 24-26. 

From there, Towson will travel to Navy to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic Regional Championship. The tournament will take place Oct. 1-4. 

Just a few short days later on Oct. 8, the black & gold with head back to Annapolis, Maryland for Navy's Blue and Gold Invitational. The three-day tournament will end on Oct. 10. 

In the final tournament of the fall season, Towson will host the Fall Tiger Classic (Oct. 15-17). The Tigers last hosted a tournament in Sept. of 2019 with the Sol Schwartz Fall Tennis Invitational.  

"The girls and I are so excited to have a fall season again with some really good local tournaments," Peterson said. "We have four consecutive weekends of tournaments including chances for individual success and rankings at the ITA Regional Tournament. There will be plenty of opportunities for success. We are more than ready to roll!"
