FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Competing at the world-famous Bethpage Black course, Towson currently stands in eighth place through the first two rounds on day one in the Doc Gimmler Tournament.
As a team, Towson stands at 581 (+21), including a first round of 287 (+7) to begin the tournament in New York.
Justin Griffith had Towson's best day one, shooting for par on the first round then a +1 for the second to end at 141 (+1) for the day. He currently stands tied for 11
th among individual golfers.
In second for Towson is
Philip Minnehan, who had rounds of 72 and 74 to stand at 146 (+6). The next two Towson golfers are just one stroke behind the next:
Brad Riley, who began the day with a 71, is at 147 (+7) through two rounds, then
Jeremy Summerson, who had two rounds of 74 to stop the day at 148 (+8).
Julian Gonzalez rounded out the Towson team and currently has 154 strokes (+14) thus far.
Columbia is in first place after the first two rounds at 559 (-1), three strokes ahead of second place Yale at 562 (+2).
Tomorrow, Towson returns to Bethpage for the final 18 holes of the tournament.
