CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The Towson University women's swimming and diving team took the place to end the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Swimming & Diving Championships.
Karlee Carminati and Samantha Casolo both landed on the podium for the Tigers on the final day of the meet. The team also had a strong showing in consolation races.
William & Mary led the pack with 663.5 points while UNCW finished in second with 621. The Tigers tallied 551.5 points to beat out fourth Drexel by 16.5 points.
How it Happened
- Carminati started off the final day of the meet strong as she took third in the 1650-yard freestyle, touching in 16:48.62.
- Katie Nunez ended the 100-yard freestyle in fourth, after a two-way tie for second. She clocked a time of 50.47. Parker Schulz took third in the B Finals with a time of 51.44.
- In the 200-yard fly, sophomore Casolo placed third, clocking 2:03.13. Lauren Gaffney also came in second in the B Finals, finishing in 2:04.73.
- Alyssa Largay came in fourth in the 1 meter dive with 254.70 final points. Tina Coleman also had a strong showing, with 261.85 points to lead the B Finals.
- The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Ava Enriquez, Hailey Ritter, Katie Nunez and Shulz came in fourth in a final time of 3:23.17.
