First Rotation
It was a record-setting night on Wednesday before a quick turnaround for the Tigers with another home meet on Friday. Towson picked up its second home sweep, scoring a 196.400 to top George Washington (194.75) and William & Mary (189.675).
In The Road to Nationals Rankings
Entering the week, Towson is 39th in the Week 4 Road to Nationals standings, averaging 194.775 points per meet after a big 195.975 at UNC. Towson's average will be bolstered entering next week thanks to a 196.400 on Wednesday.
The Home Sweet Home Tigers
Towson is set for its second home meet in a three-day span while hosting reigning EAGL champion Temple, LIU and Eastern Michigan. Towson is coming off a second home sweep over George Washington and William & Mary.
Camille Vitoff led the Tigers on vault, topping the podium Wednesday night with a 9.825. Lauren Bolen was tied for third with a 9.800.
The Tigers took the top four spots on bars, led by freshman Steph Macasu's 9.850. Vitoff was second with a 9.825 while Lauren Keener and Grace Vaillancourt tied for third, each scoring a 9.775.
Towson locked in the top five spots on beam, thanks to a season-best 9.925 from Emerson Hurst. Vaillancourt, Jenna Weitz and Clara Hong each scored a 9.875 to tie for second while Lauren Keener put in a 9.850 effort for fifth.
Hong picked up a second-place finish on the floor, tallying a 9.875. Nikki Borkowski and Amy Stewart tied for fifth on the floor with two 9.825s.
Towson did not have an all-around competitor.
Scouting the Eagles
Eastern Michigan makes its way to SECU Arena for the first time ever, bringing a 3-2-1 overall record, going 1-1-1 against Wisconsin-Oskosh, Western Michigan and Ball State. The Eagles scored a 195.025 in the home meet.
Karalyn Roberts leads EMU on vault with a 9.725 average, followed by Alana Fisher (9.688) and Hadyn Crossen (9.675).
Anna Grace McCullough is the bars leader with a 9.781 average, edging out Raisa Boris (9.775) and Crossen (9.737).
The Eagles' strongest rotation is on beam where EMU is ranked 28th nationally. Ella Chemotti is the team leader with a 9.825, while Caitlin Satler (9.819) and Boris (9.817) both average better than a 9.800.
Satler leads Eastern Michigan on the floor with a 9.775 average with Karalyn Roberts close behind at 9.769. Shannon Gregory is the third-best average at 9.758.
Two Eagles, Molly Parris and Crossen, have finished an all-around. The former averages a 38.625 while the later scores a 38.600.
Scouting the Sharks
Friday will be the second-straight week the Sharks and Temple meet; the Owls edged out the home-standing Sharks 195.800-193.850 on Sunday.
LIU is 53rd in the Road to Nationals rankings, scoring a 192.881 on average.
Lauren Miller (9.708), Katy Koopman (9.706) and Amanda Loo (9.700) all average a 9.700 or better on vault.
Mara Titarsolej and Ella Castellanos top the bars averages, with the former scoring a 9.775 and the latter with a 9.756.
Alana Ricketts has the top beam average with a 9.742 while Cael Bixler is second at 9.692.
On floor, Jah'Liyah Bedminster is the top scorer with a 9.737 average, followed by a 9.712 from Reagan Jones.
The Sharks have not had an all-around to date.
Scouting the Owls
Reigning EAGL champion Temple is ranked 34th in the Week Four Road to Nationals rankings, averaging 194.900 per meet. Temple was last seen scoring a 195.825-194.875 dual meet win at LIU last Sunday.
Julianna Roland has the top vault average with a 9.800, with Hannah Stallings (9.788) and Mackenzie Aresta (9.787) ranking second and third, respectively.
Arian Castrence leads the way on bars with a 9.775 average, topping Cyrena Whalen's 9.744 average. Madison Brooks is third for the Owls with a 9.744.
Two Owls, Castrence and Stallings, are north of 9.800 on average for the beam as Castrence scores a 9.850 while the latter lands a 9.806.
Brooke Donabedian leads the way on floor, Temple's best rotation where it ranks 32nd nationally, with a 9.812 average. Tori Edwards is second overall with a 9.800 while Stallings is near that threshold with a 9.788 average.
Stallings is the only Owl with an all-around score this season, scoring a 39.075 on average, posting an all-around in each of the Owls' four meets this season.
Another Meet, Another Improvement. Again. (And Again)
Stop us if you've heard this before.
Another meet, another season-best for Towson gymnastics as the Tigers posted one of the best scores in program history Wednesday night, scoring a 196.225, the sixth-best mark in program history.
It was the best score in three years under head coach Jay Ramirez and marks the eighth time in program history the Tigers scored a 196.000 or better.
Last weekend, the Tigers posted a then-season best 195.975 while competing against host UNC and Pittsburgh, increasing its season total by a full point. Towson's previous season best was a 194.975 set the previous weekend at N.C. State in a dual meet.
Towson opened the season with an even 194.000 at UNH before the Tigers' home-opening score of 194.150 in a quad meet with West Virginia, West Chester and William & Mary.
Home Sweet Home
The Tigers had zero home rust after nearly a month on the road, posting the program's third-best score at SECU Arena with a 196.225 on Wednesday.
It was a long set of road trips for the Tigers to begin the 2022 campaign, first with a trip Durham, New Hampshire for a dual meet against EAGL foe University of New Hampshire, followed by back-to-back weekends at N.C. State and University of North Carolina in Raleigh and Chapel Hill, respectively.
After hosting a tri-meet on Wednesday with George Washington and William & Mary, Towson now hosts a quad-meet on Friday with reigning EAGL champion Temple, LIU and Eastern Michigan. Towson rounds out this month's home slate with a tussle against the Bears of Ursinus College on Feb. 19.
After that, Towson heads west for back-to-back meets at Utah State on Friday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. ET and Sunday Feb. 27. at 3 p.m. ET.
Five Meetings. Five Cities
Friday's meet will be the fifth all-time meeting between Towson and Eastern Michigan.
However, this will be the fifth different city in which Towson and the Eagles have met. The previous four meetings were in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (2016), Ypsilanti, Michigan (2017), Washington, D.C. (2019) and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2021). Towson and Eastern Michigan have never dueled in Towson, Maryland.
You Look Very Familiar...
Towson and William & Mary meet for a second time in the first half of the season as the Tigers hosted the Tribe in Towson's home opener on Jan. 14.
Wednesday's meet will be the first of two meetings between Towson and George Washington. The pair of EAGL rivals meet again in Towson's regular season finale on March 11 before one last clash before NCAA action during this year's EAGL Championships, hosted at GW's Charles E. Smith Center on Saturday, March 19.
William & Mary, George Washington and Utah State are the three opponents that adorn the Tigers' 2022 schedule multiple times during the regular season.

The Tigers opened the 2021 campaign with a tri-meet against Eastern Michigan, hosted at Temple's McGonigle Hall. Towson scored a 193.250 to open the year, finishing second behind EMU's 194.300 and ahead of Temple's 192.400. The Tigers won the vault with a 48.900 and tied for first on the floor with a 48.950. Nikki Borkowski scored first on the vault with a 9.850, while Grace Vaillancourt was third on bars with a 9.775. Jenna Weitz finished third on beam with a 9.750 as Amy Stewart and Paige Casper each posted a 9.825 on floor to tie for third. The Tigers did not have an all-around at the season-opening meet.

In a quad-meet with Towson, host LIU, UNH and Pittsburgh, Towson prevailed with a 195.170 to win the meet by over two-tenths of a point. UNH (194.900)finished second, Pitt (194.050) was third with LIU (191.250) in fourth. Camille Vitoff and Lauren Bolen tied for first on vault with a pair of 9.825s, Tess Zientek was second on bars with a 9.875, Emerson Hurst was second on beam with a 9.875. Amy Stewart won floor, scoring a 9.875 as Nikki Borkowski was third with a 9.825. Bolen had a 38.600 to finish third in the all-around competition.

In a tight tri-meet with Towson, Temple and UNH, the Tigers finished third with a 195.850, trailing UNH (196.100) and Temple (196.025) by just a quarter point. Camille Vitoff tied for second on vault with a 9.850. Allison Zuhlke won bars with a 9.875 as Jenna Weitz was in a three-way tie for first on beam with a 9.900. Nikki Borkowski and Paige Casper tied for second on the floor, each scoring a 9.900. Lauren Bolen finished second in the all-around standings, scoring a 38.975.
Chapel Hill: The New San Francisco
- Like the Gold Rush in the 1800s, Towson became 49ers in Chapel Hill.
- For just the fourth time in program history, the Tigers dropped in at least three 49.000s or better during the tri-meet at UNC.
- Towson won the vault with a 49.100, the only team above 49.000.
- The Tigers also landed a 49.050 on bars, again the only team at that mark.
- Towson hit a 49.150 on beam, edging out host UNC's 49.125.
Week Four Standings
- In the Week Three Road to Nationals Standings, Towson is ranked 39th behind a 194.775 scoring average.
- Towson is 48th in vault with a 48.663 average, 35th on bars (48.669), 33rd on beam (48.750) for a four-spot jump, and 42nd on the floor (48.694).
- The Tigers are sixth in the Southeast region in scoring average, eighth on vault, sixth on bars, fourth on beam, seventh on floor.

- Nearly every Tiger that competed for the Black and Gold at the 2021 NCAA Regional Meet in Morgantown, West Virginia is back this season.

- Towson had a lot of youth in its lineup at UNH.
- Mia Davis and Elise Tisler made their collegiate debut in vault, Clara Hong, Lauren Keener and Steph Macasu all appeared in a college meet for the first time on bars and beam.
- Hong also made her first college appearance on the floor and was a vault shy of going all-around.
