Gymnastics Vaults into Road to Nationals Top 30

TOWSON, Md. – After sweeping a pair of meets at home last week, the Towson University women's gymnastics team has vaulted into the Top 30 scoring averages, per RoadToNationals.com.

Entering week five, the Tigers are currently ranked 28th in the Road To Nationals scoring average.

After putting up a 196.700 on Friday, the second-highest score in program history, along with a 196.225 on Wednesday, the Tigers increased their season average to 195.338. The Tigers' 196.700 is the 19th-highest score turned in by a team this season, and the second-best score for a team outside the PAC-12, Big 10, Big 12 and SEC. BYU (MRGC) turned in a 196.775 this season.

The Tigers (10-2, 5-2 EAGL) currently hold the third-best scoring average in the South East Region, trailing only Florida (197.535) and North Carolina (195.545).

In the East Atlantic Gymnastics League, Towson has the second-best scoring average, trailing only North Carolina. This past week's results pushed Towson past third-place N.C. State (195.131), George Washington (194.905) and reigning EAGL Champion Temple (194.850). Pittsburgh (194.644), UNH (194.270) and LIU (193.075) round out the EAGL standings.

After a busy two-meet week last week, the Tigers host just one event this weekend. Towson welcomes University of Pennsylvania to town for a Sunday, Feb. 13 dual meet. The event, which serves as Towson's annual Shelley Calloway Meet and Domestic Violence Awareness campaign, is set for a 2 p.m. start at SECU Arena. The Towson Sports Network will have the broadcast. Single-meet tickets are available here.
