Men’s Golf Heads for Williamsburg Monday and Tuesday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The penultimate tournament is on deck for the Towson University men's golf team as the Tigers head to Williamsburg, Virginia for the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate on Monday, March 28 and Tuesday, March 29. The event will be hosted by William & Mary.

Towson, William & Mary (Host), Fairleigh Dickinson, George Mason, Georgetown, Longwood, Old Dominion, Penn, St. Bonaventure, St. Francis (Pa.), Saint Joseph's, Villanova, Washington & Lee.

The Rounds
  • There will be a shotgun start on both days.
  • The field is scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday and finish with 18 holes on Tuesday.

When We Saw Them Last…
  • The Towson University men's golf team put together its best showing of the spring, tying for third place in a 14 team field at the 2022 Carpetbagger Classic, hosted at Worthington Manor Golf Club March 19-20.
  • Freshman Brad Freyberger remained as the Tigers top competitor, finishing fifth overall at two over par on the Par 72 course. After going for a 72 yesterday, Freyberger capped the weekend with a 74 (72-74–146) for the event. 
  • Bouncing back from a six-over par day on Saturday, Jeremy Summerson went one-over on Sunday with a 73, tying for 16th place overall (78-73–151). Summerson pounded the ball off the tie on the 13th hole, finishing with an eagle on the Par 5 hole. 
  • Justin Griffith had a consistent weekend, going three-over on Sunday and finishing tied for 21st (77-75–152). Griffith also carded an eagle on the Par 5 ninth hole.
  • Julian Gonzalez matched Griffith in a tie for 21st, flipping scores and going 75-77–151.
  • Freshman Phil Minnehan jumped eight spots on Sunday, going four over in the final round to finish tied for 29th (78-76–154).
Up Next for Towson
  • The Tigers have just one more event during the regular season, the Abarta Collegiate Invitational on April 10 and April 11 at The Steele Club in Hellertown, Pennsylvania.
  • Action is slated for April 10 and April 11 at the event, hosted by Lafayette College.
