Benzing Selected to NCAA Swimming Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – Following a highly-successful regular season, Towson University sophomore breaststroker Brian Benzing has been selected to the NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships by way of an NCAA B Cut time.

During the Princeton Last Chance Meet on March 2, Benzing posted a Towson and CAA record 51.95 swim in the 100-yard breaststroke, coming within a half second of the NCAA A Cut time of 51.59.

A two-time Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) champion in the event, Benzing has gone unbeaten in his collegiate career in short-course yardage events, winning the event 13 times over the last two seasons. His 51.95 was the 22nd fastest short course time in the country this season.

The Catonsville, Marylander is the lone men's competitor from the CAA to be selected to the swimming portion of the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. All told, there were 235 competitors selected from 45 member institutions.

The 2022 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships are scheduled for March 23-26 at McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
