TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University swimming & diving teams won all four Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) weekly awards, the CAA announced Tuesday.
Jed Garner and
Addie Scott were named the men's and women's swimmers of the week, while
Sam Tennell and
Shannon Parrau were dubbed the men's and women's divers of the week.
Garner swept the breast events at the Thomas Murphy Invite winning the 100 breast with a time of 53.43 and the 200 breast with a pool record time of 1:56.33. Both times are the fastest by a CAA swimmer this season and were the second fastest times in Towson history in both events. The 200 breast time was the second fastest by a mid-major swimmer so far this season and the 25
th best time in the NCAA. The junior also placed second overall in the 200 IM and was on podium finishing 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay teams.
Scott continued her dominant start to the season with two more individual wins and a relay win at the Thomas Murphy Invite. The junior swam 1:49.07 to win the 200 free and 4:53.67 in the 500 free to win both events. Both times are the fastest in the CAA this season. Scott also led off the winning 800 free relay team and had second place finishes in the 1650 free, 400 free relay, and 200 medley relay.
Parrau swept the boards at the Thomas Murphy Invite posting a meet record score of 296.45 in the 3-meter dive and a 280.35 to win the 1-meter dive as well. The senior was honored as the Women's Diver of the Meet for her success and has won all but one dive event she has competed in so far this season.
Tennell took the top spot in the 3-meter dive with a final score of 337.55. The senior scored 265.60 on the 1-meter board to place fifth. This is the second time Tennell has been honored as the CAA Men's Diver of the Week this season.
