HELLERTOWN, Pa. – With the regular season officially in the books for the Towson University men's golf team, the Tigers concluded action at the Abarta Coca-Cola Invitational, hosted by Lafayette at The Steel Club in the Lehigh Valley.

Towson tied for sixth with a 590 across two 18-hole rounds on the 6,655 yard track. The Tigers tied with Siena and Robert Morris. Towson had a strong showing on day two, finishing just three over par with a combined 291. 

Iona College won the event in a sudden death playoff, edging out host Lafayette, both scoring a 580. Bucknell finished third at 581 while Mount St. Mary's (588) and Rhode Island (589) rounded out the top five.

How it Happened

• Individually, Brad Riley and Justin Griffith tied for 16th in the 108 player field. Riley fired a three-over 75 on day two, scoring a 147, paired with Sunday's even par 72.
• Griffith also shot a 147, scoring a one-under 71 on Sunday with a 76 on Monday afternoon.
• Just one stroke back, Brad Freyberger capped his event with a 148, scoring a one-under 71 on Monday alongside a 77 in the opening round.
• Phil Minnehan accounted for the Tigers' final score, logging a 155 across the two rounds, going one-under on Monday with a 79 in the first round.
• Julian Gonzalez jumped up eight spots in the standings, shooting a 74 on Monday with a 79 on Sunday for a combined 153.

Up Next for Towson

• The Tigers are idle until the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship.
• The league tournament kicks off on Sunday, April 24 and runs through Tuesday April 26.
• Action is set for one round per day for the three-day event. This year's Championship will be hosted at Dataw Island Club in Beaufort, South Carolina.
