TOWSON, Md. – After playing together for the first time this past weekend, Themis Haliou and Lea Kosanovic of the Towson University women's tennis team have been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Doubles Team of the Week. The CAA made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.
Haliou and Kosanovic went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles in Towson's team victories over Delaware State (5-2) and Bucknell (4-0) this past weekend. The pair defeated DSU's Daria Julia and Iris Leder, 6-3, to clinch the doubles point. They also claimed the first point of the match against the Bison, rallying from a 5-1 deficit and winning six straight games to defeat Daniella Bellini and Whitney King, 7-5.
Rounding out the weekly conference awards with the CAA Player of the Week selection was Lorie Lemongo of Drexel.
The Black & Gold have a busy week ahead of them as they host Delaware (April 19) at 1 p.m., Morgan State (April 21) at 3 p.m. and Saint Joseph's (April 23) at 1 p.m.
