BOSTON – The Towson outdoor track and field team finished in third place to wrap up the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships on Saturday evening. Elon claimed their second consecutive title with 195 total points while Delaware took second with 154 tallies.
The Tigers ended strong, with three more first place finishes from Fatimah Owens in the discus and Crystal Johnson in the 100m and 200m.
How it Happened
- Fatimah Owens won the discus with a mark of 47.43 meters.
- Christina Marion took fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 11.80 meters.
- Ani Boghossian-James ended in fourth in the long jump with a mark of 1.60 meters. She also finished in fifth in the heptathlon standings.
- Kayla Thorpe earned silver in the shot put with a throw of 14.05 meters. Georgia Coleman followed in fourth (13.01 meters).
- Crystal Johnson took first place in both the 100m (11.76) and 200m (24.04). She has now won three consecutive outdoor 100m CAA titles in addition to back-to-back 200m titles.
- Cristal Cuervo earned fourth place in the 400m, clocking 54.77.
- Deborah Gnoumou placed fourth in the 100m hurdles with a final time of 14.84. Marion ended right behind her in fourth (15.19).
- Jasmine Johnson also came in fourth in the 400m hurdles, clocking 1:05.00.
