TOWSON, Md. – We continue our announcement of the Tiger Title IX 50
th Anniversary Team. Every Thursday beginning on June 9
th, Towson Athletics will release five student-athletes and one staff member for the next 10 weeks, with the total team being complete on Aug. 11
th.
Kathy Mohr Dolan '91 (Softball) – One of the top true student-athletes in Towson history, Kathy had a .332 career batting average and 1.63 career earned run average. Helping the Tigers to a 1989 East Coast Conference (ECC) runner-up finish, she batted at least .342 in each of her final three years, being the 1991 ECC Softball Scholar-Athlete. She is a two-time CoSIDA First Team Academic® All-American, Towson's lone athlete in department history with such distinction.
Gina Profili Hormes '91 (Field Hockey/Lacrosse) – A two-sport standout, Gina earned multiple honors in two sports, being a three-time Mid-Atlantic All-Regional Second Team field hockey honoree and a two-time All-ECC selection in lacrosse. She finished with 32 points in field hockey off 11 goals and 10 assists while anchoring down a lacrosse defense which won the 1990 ECC. Post-Towson, Gina was a member of the US Women's Lacrosse Team in 1989 and 1991.
Wendy Jo Weaver Kwiatkowski '92 (Gymnastics) – Part of some of the best Towson gymnastics teams, Wendy graduated as the program's best-ever performer in the all-around, on the balance beam and on the uneven bars. The 1992 ECAC Gymnast of the Year and CoSIDA Academic® Second Team All-American was part of four ECAC championship teams, four NCAA regional teams and the 1990 squad which finished ninth in the country.
Danielle Barry '94 (Basketball) – A four-time all-conference honoree, Danielle stands as the top rebounder in program history with 961 boards, leading the team in rebounding all four years, as well as third all-time in scoring with 1,555 points, leading the team in scoring in three seasons. She was a first team all-league player three times, once in the ECC and twice in the Big South, leading the Tigers to a trio of conference tournament semifinal finishes from 1992-94.
Courtney McClelland Gonzalez '96 (Soccer/Softball) – Courtney finished her career as an All-Big South honoree in each soccer and softball. On the soccer side, Courtney graduated as the program's all-time leading scorer, still standing fourth all-time with 24 goals and 14 assists, twice earning second team all-league recognition. She was a First Team All-Big South player as a junior in softball, hitting .346 in her career.
Breezy Bishop (Coach) – Coach Bishop became the first Black head coach of a Towson athletics women's program, taking over the women's basketball team in 1979. She led Towson to a trio of winning seasons in four years, all with at least 15 victories each of those winning seasons, including the program's first DI season in 1982-1983 as the Tigers went 15-9. Along with a stellar coaching career at Western High, Bishop was a 2000 inductee into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.
