WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Towson University women's golf team will open the start of the 2022-23 season with two back-to-back tournaments.
Starting on Monday, Sept. 12 the team will be heading to Williamsburg, Virginia to compete in the William & Mary Fall Invitational hosted by William & Mary. The two-day tournament will take place on the Kingsmill Resort's River Course-Par 72. On Monday, the 36-hole action will begin at 8:30 a.m.with a shotgun start into continuous play. Tuesday will consist of 18 holes, beginning at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start was well.
The following weekend the Black and Gold will travel to Penn State to participate in the Nittany Lion Invitational, which will be held Sept. 17-18.This will be a 54-hole event consisting of 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday, both days will begin with a shotgun start. The tournament will take place on the Penn State Blue Course-Par 72, 6293 yards.

Shannon Briggs said. "We had a lot of team record breaking success last season and the continued cohesiveness and support our team has for each other will benefit the overall experience, keeping everyone comfortable to be able to perform their best."
THE FIELD
For the William & Mary Invitational the Black and Gold will be up against South Dakota State, Elon, Longwood, Richmond, Delaware State, Bucknell, Florida Atlantic University and William & Mary.
At the Nittany Lion Invitational the Tigers will be up against Akron, Boston College, Bradley, Bucknell, Butler, Columbia, Eastern Kentucky, High Point, Kennesaw, Penn State, Richmond, Seton Hall, Toledo, Navy and Youngstown.

LAST SEASON RECAP
At the Pirate Collegiate Classic hosted by East Carolina University the Tigers finished second overall with a team score of 2-over 290, which broke the school record for lowest team round. The black and gold also broke the school record for lowest team tournament score.
Odette Font Garcia broke the program mark of 68, finishing 5-under 67 at the Red Rocks Invitational. The freshman made five birdies with 13 pars to break the school record.
Faith McIlvain birdied 18 to help Towson shoot 2-under 286, which ended up breaking the team record.

To finish off the 2021-22 season the team placed fifth at the 2022 CAA championship after rounds of 315-311-308.
Upcoming Schedule
Following these two tournaments the Black and Gold will head down south to Greensboro, North Carolina to compete in the Grandover Fall Classic on Sept. 26 and 27.
After a short break they will head back to North Carolina for the Pirate Collegiate Classic hosted by East Carolina University on October 10
th and 11
th.
