Lydia Wiers was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Wiers totaled 14 blocks at the Panther Challenge, averaging 1.40 blocks per set, while the team averaged 3.30 blocks per set over the weekend. The senior from Willard, Ohio has recorded four or more blocks in eight straight matches to help the Tigers win 10 consecutive matches to start the year. She registered four or more blocks in all three matches, including six in Towson's four set victory over #7 Pittsburgh. Wiers added six digs and 12 kills to help the Tigers go perfect over the weekend.
Towson kicks off league play against CAA newcomer Hampton at SECU Arena on Sept. 17-18.
