STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Towson University women's golf team has finished the first day of the Nittany Lion Invitational and currently sits in 13
th place. After two rounds and 36 holes the Tigers have a combined score of 609 (+33).
The host of the tournament, Penn State, currently leads the field with a score of 571 (-5).
Leading for the Tigers is
Odette Font Garcia, who is currently tied for 10
th place. Font Garcia had a strong first round, shooting a 72 to be on par. The sophomore shot a 74 for the second 18 holes, earning a total score of 146 (+2). She notched six birdies for the day.
Tied for 35
th is
Faith McIlvain, who finished the day with a score of 151 (+7). McIlvain was consistent with her performance, shooting a 75 and 76 respectively. During her first round, the junior earned two birdies.
Not too far behind her is
Madison Barber, who is currently tied for 53
rd. Barber ended day one with a score of 154 (+10), after improving by four strokes in between rounds.
Following Barber is
Isabella Portokalis, who completed day one tied for 73
rd. The junior transfer shot a 80 and 78 respectively to earn a total score of 158 (+14). Portokalis had a solid first round, earning three birdies.
Rayab Lee and
Kyndall Campbell rounded out the team for the day. Lee had a consistent performance, shooting 83 for both rounds to put her at 22-over. Campbell earned a score of 169 (+25), improving by five strokes in between rounds.
The Black & Gold will wrap up the tournament tomorrow, playing the final 18 holes starting at 8:30 a.m.
