Track & Field Records Multiple Personal Bests at Penn 10 Team Select

Staten Island, N.Y. – The Towson women's indoor track and field team collected some hardware Saturday afternoon as eight Tigers earned top-three finishes and multiple picked up new PR's.
 
Two Tigers had gold medal performances, including freshman Emmanuel Mevo who won the triple jump with a score of 11.85 meters.
 
How it Happened
  • Leaann Redlo debuted as a Tiger with a sixth-place overall finish in the 60m hurdles after clocking a 8.86 which is good enough for sixth all-time in program history.
  • Maya Tucker (7.83) and Sydney Tucker (7.86) finished in sixth and seventh place respectively in the 60 meter dash.
  • Juniors Satori Valentine (1:01.12) and Jasmine Johnson (1:01.93) competed in the 400 meter, placing 21st and 25th respectively.
  • The distance squad put forth a strong effort in the 800 meter dash. Alexis Mogensen took fifth place after clocking a 2:24.56. Sophia Skinner followed, placing seventh after earning a personal best of 2:28.15. Jenna Zentz rounded out the squad with a 12 second PR of 2:30.92.
  • Captain Cristal Cuervo secured a third place finish after running a 24.62 in the 200 meter dash, only .30 off of her personal record. Maya Tucker and Sydney Tucker finished back-to-back after clocking 25.00 and 25.37 respectively.
  • Beighley Ayers ran a 10:11.46 in the 3000 meters, placing seventh. Her performance was the sixth all-time in program history.
  • Emmanuel Mevo had a successful collegiate debut, placing first in the triple jump with a score that goes in the record book for third all-time. The rookie placed second in the long jump, recording a score of 5.43 meters.
  • Amanda Tony placed second in the triple jump with a score of 11.44m, placing her at 8th all-time in program history. Aliyah Anderson (11.26m) and Captain Skylar Galiano-Holmes (11.19m) placed fifth and sixth respectively.
  • Captain Fatimah Owens was the second gold medal performance of the afternoon, dominating the weight throw with a score of 17.28 meters. Georgia Coleman secured the second place spot after throwing 16.66 meters.

  • Next weekend the team heads to Bucknell for the Gulden Invitational on Jan 21.
