BETHLEHEM, P.a. – The Towson University men's golf team completed the first day of play at the Lehigh University Invitational with a score of 299 (+11). Going into the second round the Black & Gold sit in fourth place ahead of Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) member Hofstra. Four Tigers finished in the top-30.
Host team Lehigh University sits atop the 13-player field after earning a day one score of 293 (+5) with two athletes ranked in the top 5. Harry Dessel of Lafayette College and Binghampton's Evan Sitts are tied for first individually with a scores of 68, 4-under par.
Brad Riley had a solid front nine, parring seven holes and offsetting a bogey with a birdie. He finished the day with a score of 73 (+1) after adding two more birdies during the back nine to tie for 12
th.
Sky Aung finished play tied for 15
th after shooting 74 (+2). He was on par for 14 of the 18 holes and recorded one birdie.
Michael Matheson and
Ariihau Faana both scored 76 (+4) to wrap up play tied for 28
th. Matheson put forth strong effort during the front nine, parring six holes and offsetting a double bogey with two birdies. Faana notched two birdies as well.
Jai Sheth shot 78 (+6) and
Poon Nantsupawat earned a score of 83 (+11).
Towson will tee off at 9:30 a.m. for the second and final round tomorrow.
